Cardioid Condenser Microphone
The Opus 88 is a miniature electret condenser mic with an integrated spring-loaded clamp, intended for mounting on drum rims. The electret capsule is mounted atop a 75mm gooseneck, facilitating positioning above the drum.
It is a variant of the Opus 87 and shares all the 87’s performance specifications. The only differences are physical:
- The Opus 88 has a 20mm gooseneck, whereas the Opus 87 has a 75mm gooseneck.
- The Opus 88 gooseneck has a swivel mount, allowing the gooseneck to be rotated clock-hand style across the drum head. The Opus 87 does not have this feature, as its gooseneck protrudes directly from the clip mount rather than being attached at 90°.
- The rim clamps are different sizes; the Opus 88 clamp measures 85mm x 118mm, while the Opus 87 clamp measures 85mm x 102mm.

The mic was released in 2005.
