X/Y Stereo Condenser Stereo Microphone

The MCE 72 is a stereo FET condenser, with two miniature electret condenser capsules mounted at 120° for XY-stereo recording.

The mic was designed to be used with portable handheld recorder and video cameras, and as such includes a cable that allows the mic to be plugged into a 3.5mm stereo audio input jack.

MCE 72 CircuitThe mic is available in three versions:

  • MCE 72 - powered by 1.5V AA battery. Mic body is 196mm long.
  • MCE 72 CAM - same as MCE 72, but includes different accessories (see below). Mic body is 196mm long.
  • MCE 72 PV CAMPhantom powered (11–52V). Mic body is 136mm long.

The MCE 72 kit is supplied with a hard mount (p/n MKV 108) and a 3.5mm conversion cable (XLR5M to 3.5mm stereo male; p/n MKV 82-K3).

The MCE 72 CAM includes an elastic suspension with a hotshoe flash mount (p/n EA 86) for mounting the mic to a video camera. It also includes a foam windscreen (p/n WS 72) and a 35cm XLR5M-to-3.5mm stereo cable.

The MCE 72 PV CAM (the phantom-powered version of the mic) includes EA 86 hotshoe shockmount as described above, a foam windscreen, and a half-meter 3.5mm conversion cable (p/n MVK 82-N(CM)).
