TNC Audio ACM-3
Bidirectional Ribbon Microphone
The ACM-3 is a passive ribbon microphone modeled externally after the Royer R-121 (although built with much simpler parts). It is manufactured in China by the Shanghai Silver Flute Sound Company; see their RM3.
Despite the radically different headbasket shapes, the ACM-3 and ACM-2 are the same microphone underneath. Both utilize a 2-micron, 45mm aluminum ribbon suspended between Neodymium magnets.
The headbasket is lined with a very fine-mesh screen. A second layer of blast protection (or third, if you count the slotted case) is mounted to the ribbon motor, as in the ACM-2.
The mic ships in a padded wooden case with a low-quality plastic mic clip that sheds flashing when the mic is inserted.
The TNC Audio ACM-3 is also known as: ACM3.
The mic was released in 2008.
