Cardioid Condenser Microphone

The Sennheiser e 908 is a miniature electret condenser microphone designed for drum and percussion miking. It incorporates a long gooseneck to facilitate positioning on a variety of instruments.

There are several variations of the e 908:

  • e 908 B - clip-on for brass instruments, 48V power required
  • e 908 D - drum rim clamp, 48V power required
  • e 908 B ew - clip-on for brass, wireless
  • e 908 T ew - reduced sensitivity, wireless

The B and D versions are supplied with MZA 900 P phantom power adapter with XLR output.

The wireless versions are terminated with 3.5mm TRS for connection to beltpack.

The mic has a very consistent cardioid pattern. Its frequency response is flat (±1dB) from 300Hz–5kHz, with a relatively sharp +7dB peak centered at 12kHz. Below 300Hz, the mic’s response rolls off smoothly. The -3dB points are at 130Hz and somewhere above 20kHz.

The Sennheiser Electronics Corporation e 908 is also known as: e908.
