SM Pro Audio MC03
Multi-Pattern Tube Condenser Microphone
The original MC03 was a low-cost tube condenser microphone manufactured in China for SM Pro Audio.
It had a large-diaphragm, dual-sided capsule, with 25mm diaphragms made of 3-micron Mylar within a 32mm capsule.
The tube was a 12AX7, installed in a socket and protected with a rubber ring.
According to the user manual, the mic used an output transformer. It could withstand 130dB SPL with 0.5dB distortion, and had a respectable 18dBA self-noise.
A switch on the power supply allowed selection of 9 polar patterns: Cardioid, Omni, Figure-8, and 6 intermediate patterns.
The MC03 shipped with an elastic shockmount and power supply in a flight case.
