RØDE NT3
Street: $269 / MSRP: $349 Hypercardioid Condenser Microphone
Description
The NT3 is a fixed-cardioid FET condenser mic that is unique in its ability to provide an externally-biased, “true” condenser capsule that can be powered by a 9V battery (or 12V phantom power).
The specs are somewhat unclear; the Rode website and the NT3’s PDF manual disagree about the mic’s dimensions and pickup pattern (either cardioid or hypercardioid).
The 3/4'' capsule (roughly 19mm) is internally shockmounted. The internal preamp is designed for high RF rejection, and incorporates a (transformerless) bipolar-transistor-based output circuit.
The body is metal. The mic is supplied in a zip pouch with a foam windshield, stand mount and thread adaptor.
The RØDE NT3 is also known as: NT-3.
