MicW e418
Omnidirectional Pencil Condenser Microphone
The Mic-W e418 is a small diaphragm Omnidirectional condenser, part of Mic-W’s entry-level E-series.
The e418 uses a 7mm omnidirectional electret capsule, with a gold-coated Mylar diaphragm. The output circuit is transformerless.
The mic has a flat frequency response up to 2kHz, followed by a gentle presence boost that peaks at +3.5dB around 8kHz.
As is common to microphones with such small diaphragms, the e418 has fast transient response and fast diaphragm settling time.
As is also common to these microphones, the e418 has very high self-noise — cited as 32dBA. These microphones are unlikely to be suitable for distance miking of acoustic sources, and might be too noisy even for close-miking of acoustic sources.
