CardioidMXL V87

Cardioid Condenser Microphone

The V87 is a fixed-cardioid large-diaphragm FET condenser microphone. It is intended to impart some “color” or character to the sound, rather than being a transparent mic.

The capsule, a 32mm backplate with a 25mm diaphragm, can also be found on other MXL mics; see links in the sidebar.

The output circuit in the V87 is transformer-coupled.

The mic includes the following accessories: MXL’s metal mesh pop filter (p/n PF-005-SS), a low-profile elastic shockmount (p/n USM-002), a hard mount that screws to the bottom of the mic (p/n MXL-V6-H), and a cleaning cloth.

The MXL V87 is also known as: V-87.

The mic was released in 2008.
