Lawson Inc L47fet
Cardioid Condenser Microphone
The Lawson L47fet is a modern interpretation of the Neumann U47fet. Both are transistor (FET) condenser mics with large-diaphragm capsules and fixed cardioid patterns.
The capsule in the L47fet was designed by Gene Lawson, and is based on the M7 capsule originally used in the U47/U48 microphones. Lawson’s capsule uses a very thin (3-micron) Mylar diaphragm.
Lawson Microphones
Because the L47FET boasts the same capsule as the L47MP MKII, it really shines on vocal, both sung and spoken. The L47FET may well be one of the best voice-over microphones available and is quickly finding favor among many broadcast and voice-over talents.Although the L47FET solid state electronics are capable of only a cardioid response, the L47FET’s Quick Change™ capsule, when used with any Lawson multi-pattern electronics is capable of full multi-pattern functionality making it a perfect companion to the L251 tube microphone. Remove the “Quick Change” capsule from the L47FET, put it on your L251 tube electronics, and voila! You have an L47MP MKII. Put the L251 capsule on the FET electronics and record with the L251FET.
The L47FET uses all discrete components including one percent low noise metal film resistors. No integrated circuits or surface mount parts are used.
The Lawson Inc L47fet is also known as: L47SH.
