Electro-Voice PL33
Supercardioid Dynamic Microphone
The PL33 is a supercardioid dynamic mic designed for kick drum use.
The frequency response graph shows a +10dB boost from around 3–8kHz, and extreme proximity effect (over 15dB) centered around 80Hz with close placement. This “scooped” EQ curve is common for dedicated kick-drum microphones.
The mic’s polar pattern suggests a fairly colored off-axis response; although it produces a Cardioid pattern below 250Hz, sensitivity at 180° grows through 4kHz. The pattern becomes nearly figure-8 at 8kHz and clover-shaped at 16kHz.
The mic ships with stand adapter and soft zippered bag. A foam windscreen, p/n WSPL-2, is available separately.
The PL33 is also packaged within EV’s PL-DK7 kit.
The Electro-Voice PL33 is also known as: PL-33.
The mic was released in 2009.
