MIX
If I had to pick between the [N/D868 and Audix D4], I’d give the edge to the N/D868, purely on the perfection of its tight, round (almost compressed-sounding) low end. The N/D868 is clearly a kick drum-only mic.
Emusician
All things considered, the N/D868 was the most consistently pleasing performer of the seven mics we tested, and the one that most of the judges preferred most of the time.
The Electro-Voice N/D868 is also known as: ND868.
The mic was released in 1998.
