Coles Electroacoustics
Coles was founded in 1964 by two employees of the British telecom company Standard Telephones and Cables Ltd. STC had, at the time, manufactured a small line of microphones developed for the BBC, including the famous model 4038 ribbon mic.
STC outsourced the manufacture of its microphone line to Coles in 1974, then subsequently sold Coles the rights.
