Cascade Microphones V55
Cardioid Tube Condenser Microphone
The Cascade Valve 55, aka V55, was an early large-diaphragm tube mic from Cascade Microphones, produced from 2004 through about 2007. It had a transformer-coupled output and a fixed Cardioid pickup pattern.
The capsule was a 35mm center-terminated design.
The tube was a Mullard 12AT7WA/CV4024, a high-quality, low-noise tube manufactured in Great Britain. Presumably these were installed by Cascade Microphones staff in the US, as the rest of the microphone was manufactured in China.
The mic had a -10dB pad and a high-pass filter. Its amplifier circuit was relatively quiet, at 16dBA, and used a transformer-coupled output.
The V55 shipped with a “vintage style” switchable (115V/220V) power supply, 8-pin screw-on cable, a microfiber cleaning cloth, an elastic shockmount with spare elastics, a wooden storage case for the mic, and an aluminum flight case.

The mic was released in 2004.
