Description

The Red’s Type B is an affordable Class A discrete solid state mic exclusively designed for Red by Blue Microphones as a foundation for interchangeable capsules.

The Red Lollipop Capsule is an all-around capsule designed to be as versatile as possible, with applications ranging from vocals to electric and acoustic guitars, close-miking of drums, drum overheads, percussion, piano, horns, strings and any other applications where crystal-clear sound quality and detail is of the upmost concern.

The RED lollipop capsule is a pressure gradient large diaphragm condenser which employs a 6 micron pure gold-sputtered mylar capsule membrane. It was designed with maximum versatility in mind for a wide variety of applications.

In addition to the microphone, the Type B also includes the Type B Accessory Pak, with Blue’s high-definition 20-AWG Cranberry mic cable and Type B Shockmount.

Precision-designed and hand-assembled, the Type B is crafted for a lifetime of use. But what really makes the Type B special is that it’s unique bayonet top can accommodate a variety of new and vintage lollipop-style capsules, including classic Neumann-Gefell capsules and Blue’s renowned line of Bottle microphone capsules, The Bottle Caps.

Compared to similar microphones, The Type B has a very low self noise specification (<7.5dB) and an very high output level (+12dBV), making it the perfect choice for today’s high sample rate/deep word length digital platforms. Instead of integrated circuits (chips), The Type B employs a transformerless Class A discrete amplifier circuit to ensure the most accurate and noise-free signal possible, with minimal distortion and coloration. The Type B’s versatility, due to its interchangeable capsule design, makes itan ideal microphone for recording virtually any sound source.

In short, the Type B offers the user a wide variety of recording applications right at their fingertips, at an extremely affordable price.

Note: the Red Type B does not need an external power supply — just phantom power.
