Audix F12
Cardioid Dynamic Microphone
Part of Audix’ Fusion series, the F12 “dynamic instrument microphone” is a compact, low-cost dynamic intended for use on percussion, drums, and guitar cabinet.
The primary difference from the F10 is the frequency response. The two mics share a high-end response profile (+7dB @ 5000Hz, +5dB @ 8000Hz). But where the F10 has an aggressive peak at 80-90Hz, the F12 has a gentle roll-off at the low end.
The body is zinc alloy, finished in black. The mic is supplied in a soft pouch and carries a 5-year warranty.
The mic body has an integrated mic clip, but is compatible with the company’s DFLEX rim clamp (from the D1, D2, D4 series) as well as the DCLAMP (tension-rod mount) and DVICE (spring-loaded rim clamp), all available separately.
See also Audix’ D-series microphones, which are functionally similar to the Fusion drum mics. The D2 and D4 have a “Very Low Mass” diaphragm that makes them quicker (better transient response) and more accurate. Also, the D series mics are hypercardioid, which might offer superior isolation.
The Audix F12 is also known as: F-12.
