Audix ADX-20i
Cardioid Condenser Microphone
The Audix ADX20i is a miniature electret condenser microphone designed to be clipped on to the bell of a saxophone or other brass instrument.
The mic’s frequency response is heavily sculpted; it is flat ±1dB from 1kHz–4kHz, with a smooth rolloff to -10dB at 40Hz on the low side, and a +5dB peak at 8kHz on the high side. The measurement distance is not specified; if taken at 1m (as is standard), then the actual use within 6 inches of the horn bell would produce a much flatter, fuller low-frequency response than is suggested by the published graph. At a distance, this mic would sound very bright and thin.
There are a few variations of the ADX20i available:
- ADX-20i: wireless version for use with RAD360 bodypack.
- ADX-20i-P: phantom powered, includes APS-910 battery/phantom preamp
- ADX-20iP-HC: Hypercardioid, phantom version.
A 6ft cable is permanently attached, terminating with a mini-XLR-F connector.
The mic ships with a gooseneck clip with integral shockmount (model MC-20i), WS-20 External foam windscreen, and P1 Carrying pouch.
The Audix ADX-20i is also known as: ADX20iP-HC, ADX20iP, ADX20i.
