Audio-Technica PRO 25ax
Hypercardioid Dynamic Microphone
The Pro25ax is a dynamic microphone intended for low-frequency and high-SPL applications such as kick drum, brass, and percussion.
The mic’s hypercardioid pickup pattern helps to eliminate off-axis sound, making the mic suitable for stage or studio use.
Its frequency response is similar to other “tailored kick-drum” mics, with presence peaks at both the high and low-frequency ends of the audio spectrum: specifically, 100Hz and 4kHz.
The AKG D112 is similar, with peaks at 100Hz and 3.5kHz. Some of the other mics in this genre are optimized for a 50Hz rather than 100Hz boost:
- The E-V N/D868 peaks fall at 50Hz, 1.5kHz, and 5kHz.
- The Shure Beta52a peaks at 50Hz and 2kHz.
The Pro25ax ships with a mic clip (Audio-Technica p/n AT8471) and a soft pouch.
The Audio-Technica PRO 25ax is also known as: 25ax, PRO25ax, 25 AX.
