Audio-Technica AT8033
Cardioid Condenser Microphone
The AT8033 is a small-diaphragm electret condenser microphone with a cardioid polar pattern. Audio-Technica lists the intent of this mic as “general audio acquisition”, usable on sources ranging from spoken interviews to acoustic instruments and drum overheads.
This mic contains a switchable highpass filter with a significant 18dB per octave roll-off at 80Hz.
It can be powered via phantom (11-52V DC) or by utilizing a standard 1.5V AA battery in the body of the mic. The microphone’s sensitivity drops slightly when powered by an internal battery.
The AT8033 ships with an AT8405a clip, AT8136 windscreen, battery and soft pouch.
