Audio-Technica AE3000
Cardioid Condenser Microphone
The AE3000 is a large-diaphragm electret condenser microphone with a fixed cardioid pickup pattern. It is intended as an instrument mic, designed for applications such as guitar cabinets, toms, snare, timpani and overheads.
The capsule is a large-diaphragm electret model, edge-terminated, with a single-diaphragm construction rather than the more familiar Braunmühl Weber design.
The headbasket is large and features an open grille design, which reduces the coloration of reflected sound within the capsule area.
It has a 10dB pad and a high pass filter (-12dB/octave @ 80 Hz), switchable from the mic body.
The circuit is built with surface-mount components, and features a large output transformer.
