Apogee Electronics MiC 96k
Cardioid Condenser Microphone
The Apogee MiC 96k is a second-generation digital studio microphone, designed to be used with Apple’s suite of portable electronics. It can also be used with laptop or desktop computers via USB.
The single difference between the original MiC, released in 2011, and the MiC 96k, released in early 2014, is the sample rate of the onboard analog/digital converter (ADC). The MiC could be used at a maximum rate of 48kHz. The new MiC 96k doubles this, to 96kHz, although this mode can only be used with software that supports the rate. The new MiC can also be used at lower rates, including 44.1kHz and 48kHz.
Both MiCs have an Apogee-proprietary output connector; both ship with three interface cables: Apple 30-pin, Lightning, and USB.
The 96k version ships with a desktop tripod stand, and a hard mount for attaching the MiC 96k to a traditional microphone stand.
