Apex Electronics 530
Cardioid Condenser Microphone
The Apex 530 is a low-cost FET condenser microphone with a large-diaphragm capsule and a fixed Cardioid polar pattern.
It appears to be the single-pattern version of the Apex 520, and shares that mic’s physical design, size, and most of its specs.
The 530 has no external switches. Inside the body, a switch on the circuit board allows a high-pass filter to be enabled.
Although the Apex website claims the 530 has “extremely low self-noise,” the published rating of 20dBA puts the mic among the highest-noise FET LDCs we have seen.
The mic ships with an elastic shockmount and a storage pouch.
