Apex Electronics 471
Detachable-Capsule Pencil Tube Condenser Microphone
The Apex 471 is a pencil condenser with a tube preamp and dedicated power supply. It includes a detachable cardioid capsule; optional omni and hypercardioid capsules are also available for $19 apiece.
The tube is a 6J1B.
The user guide for the 471 includes this sage advice: “Never immerse any microphone or its power supply in water.”
Like all Apex microphones, the 471 is manufactured in China. We don’t have specifics on the original make or model yet, but we note a close visual similarity with the Alctron T40B and T50B.
Included with the mic are a tube power supply, shockmount (Apex p/n IMC-11), and power cable.
