OktavaModMichael Joly’s “standard” mod for long-geometry Chinese ribbon mics removes mechanical filters and adds acoustical damping, resulting in improved LF and HF extension, better HF detail, and reduced mechanical resonance. The “premium” mod includes retensioning of the ribbon and a Lundahl transformer.
MarikMarik offers repair and modification services for all types of ribbon mics, vintage and modern. Ribbons can be retensioned or replaced. Magnets can be upgraded. Transformers can be replaced with Marik's custom low-noise toriodal design.

The HRM-2 is an inexpensive Chinese ribbon design intended for wholesale to bulk importers.

Its specs are indistinguishable from the HRM-4, which has an XLR jack (rather than a fixed cable) and a slightly different grille shape.

The ribbon element is pure aluminum, 2 microns thick, measuring 50mm x 5mm.

The mic is capable of withstanding extremely high SPL (165 dB).

This microphone has been rebadged under many names, and turns up frequently in “group buys” organized through audio message boards.
