See this month’s giveaway!

The Prize

The Ela M 260 is a small-diaphragm tube condenser microphone with a circuit and transformer designed by AMI. Reviewers have used this mic on drum overheads, acoustic guitar, orchestras, even pump organ with great results. It’s no surprise the mic won a TEC award in 2008.

It comes with three small-diaphragm capsules — Cardioid, Omnidirectional, and Hypercardioid. All three capsules have a natural, unhyped high end that I suspect will be a welcome relief to anyone who has been using inexpensive SDCs for any amount of time.

The “M 260 Tube Stereo” set that we’re giving away includes two microphones plus two each of the SDC capsules, two satin-lined wooden storage boxes, two cables, two shockmounts, and a single stereo power supply. Everything packs into a locking leather flightcase.

I’m part way through a year at the Ontario Institute of Recording Technology (OIART), and a stereo pair of these would be a great start to my collection :). I can only hope.
