June Microphone Giveaway Details
This month’s microphone giveaway is sponsored by my friends at Shure. They have donated a KSM42 large-diaphragm vocal condenser microphone!
This contest is open to musicians, producers, recordists, audio engineers, podcasters, voice artists, and studio owners. Winners will be asked to submit a photo of their home or commercial studio.
Please note – this month’s prize can be shipped within the US and Canada only!
The Prize
The KSM42 is Shure’s new large-diaphragm condenser for studio vocals. It has a new amplifier circuit design with an extremely low self-noise rating of just 8.5 dBA, carefully controlled proximity effect, and a multi-layer metal mesh proven through months of R&D to be most effective at blocking plosives without muddying the recorded sound.
The KSM42 includes a magnetic-mount external pop filter and an elastic shockmount. It is your new go-to vocal microphone!

Hi, I only had 2 shure mics my entire life a 58 shure and other I can’t remember the name but it was a dynamic. Anyways I always wanted another shure mic. My 58 got stolen then my other one disappeared. Recently I just started school had to sell all my studio gear for college books. I needed 2 upgrade anyway this will be a nice start for my new project studio!!!

I’m a voice over guy. This wouldn’t be an addition to my arsenal…it would replace it!

I’ve read that this mic is supposed to be simply awesome when used as a drum overhead. I’d love to be able to replace the cheapy SDC I’m currently using.

I’ve been using a Snowball USB mic for awhile now and have progressed as both a musician/producer… my vocals are decent through this mic but could have way more potential if I got ahold of something beastly like this Shure mic… I WANT IT!!!! 🙂

I work and live by the rugged dependability of Shure’s line of dynamic mics (the SM7B is my go-to workhorse mic) but this condenser sounds like a game-changer. It would certainly give me a leg up with recording accuracy in professional voice work. I’m ready for it!
That said, good luck to all!

i could really use a great mic to capture the pure tone of a great Les Paul thru my Orange amp at gigs and recording. I have Sm57 and 58’s and always depend on Sure’s prducts.

Hello,
Well, If I have to come out of the closet…I use an MXL 990 for vocals and an MXL 604 for my acoustic. There…now I must live with the shame.
