About Wally Schnalle

Wally Schnalle is a busy man. And he stays that way, juggling roles as a drummer, composer, educator, journalist and bandleader. With 8 CD’s released as bandleader, his compositions and drumming skills consistently receive positive reviews. His ensembles regularly perform in top shelf jazz venues such as Yoshis and Kuumbwa in the SF Bay Area and The Baked Potato in LA as well as major Jazz Festivals like The Monterey Jazz Festival, The San Jose Jazz Festival, SFJazz, The Portland Jazz Festival and San Jose’s SoFA Festival. He also stays busy as a sideman, recording and performing often in a myriad of styles. Schnalle also acts as music editor-at-large for DRUM! Magazine. His drum transcriptions and educational columns have served to enlighten and educate readers internationally for years. Schnalle also teaches drums both privately and as a clinician. He has also been the recipient of an Artist-In-Residence Grant from the California Arts Council. Wally plays and endorses Pearl Drums, Zildjian Cymbals, Earthworks Microphones and Vic Firth Sticks. And most importantly, his name rhymes!
