Welcome Shure Notes Readers!

I hope you enjoyed my article in Shure Notes about the sound and the pros and cons of various drum overhead microphone positions!
This is the RecordingHacks website. Inside you’ll find about 2000 pages of information about microphones. Frankly, it’s more than anybody would want to know, except maybe for me. So I’ll call out a few highlights:
- the microphone database — home to specs, descriptions, and insider information on over 1000 microphones
- the Mic-a-Month Giveaway, in which we’re giving away about $12,000 worth of microphones this year. This month’s prize is a Shure KSM42.
- a microphone sale finder (click the “price” column to find the best deals of the day)
- the Ultimate Podcast Mic Shootout, the result of a blind listening test of the best radio microphones ever made.
You might also be interested in the frequency-response graph overlay comparison tool, which lets you compare two microphones’ frequency responses in a way that has never been done before. As an example, the image at right compares the Shure KSM44A to the Neumann U 87 Ai.
See more content highlights over in the right sidebar, under “Favorite Articles.”
Thanks again for stopping by, and please get in touch if you have any ideas about how this site could be made more useful for you.
